In spite of white

A winter view from the View

A winter view from the View

Even though the temperatures were low and the ground was blanketed in white, we managed to get the job done AND enjoyed it.

I can’t seem to sleep past 5 AM anymore so, why fight it? I got up, had a pre workout snack, 1/2 banana, sliced, with Almond Butter on a slice and Naturally More on the other slice:

That got me through 5 + miles on the treadmill. I kept thinking about the wonderful winter world out there but didn’t want to get dressed to go out in the cold and come back to get Shane, go back out again. I settled for the T/Mill.   Also, the dinner last night upset my stomach somewhat. The chef put WAY too much sesame oil on the bok choy and, even though I only ate a little, it really didn’t agree with me. I didn’t want to get out side and suffer an upset stomach so it turned out to be a safe bet going downstairs and using the machine.  There was also the “unknown” factor which was:  1. I didn’t know how slippery it would be and risk Shane pulling me down. 2.  I didn’t know how playful he would be with the snow and if I would get a worth while run in if he was bouncing all over the place.  Hence – settled for the T/Mill – as boring as it was.

After the running was done (and my hamstring seemed ok), the two of us ventured out for a long walk. We completed 5.5 miles. As suspected, Shane was full of it.  He bounced, tossed the leaves, yanked me left, yanked me right… then ended up getting either a cold cramp or snow stuck in between the pads of his feet. He picked up his hind leg and I had to rub his foot until he was ready to go again. Throughout our walk this happened 3 times with that foot and 1 time on the front foot.  We went through Valley View G.C. and no one was around so I let Shane release some of that energy by letting him run loose. He ripped around in circles. What a goofy dog!   The good news is that the walk was enjoyable, we didn’t encounter any other dogs, and it was energy well spent. But now my hamstring hurts. Bummer.

For breakfast… I grabbed 1/2 an apple Ted left. Immediately had a cup of coffee and got my breakfast started.   The Saturday Scramble:  We have chopped broccoli, chopped spring onions, sliced cherry tomatoes, and asparagus (which will be chopped). Saute all that in olive oil. Then there is the main ingredient, 3/4 cup Egg Beaters and lastly, add the Feta cheese.

I added a little salt to the eggs while cooking and cayenne pepper. Topped the cooked scramble off with hot sauce and put it on top of one of my home made english muffins.  That should keep me cooking (literallly) until later today!

What are the plans? Well, I am doing the peppermint-chocolate pie experiment. Baking both the choc.chip and stuffed peanut butter cookies.  We have to groc. shop and then we are going to a show in Syracuse tonight. It’s a Murder-Mystery Dinner Show. We’ll stop in to see David & Karen & the kids as it’s young David’s birthday and we have a gift.  It should be fun as long as we don’t hit a blizzard…remember that winter weather advisory? – well it’s still in effect.  Hope your weather is sunny and warm. Enjoy your day!
