Chugging along on a spinning belt

January 17, 2009 by applec

Update!  I forgot to offer a taste of last nights restaurant review!  We went to Chesterfields.  I had the same dish I posted a few weeks ago so no pictures of the main fare. But, to start I couldn’t pass up a wonderful glass of Toasted Head Chardonnay (both Ted and I had the same wine).

Then, this beautiful display of the yummiest breast…dripping with butter, garlicky and accompanied by a white bean hummus with balsamic glaze reduction.

img_17932 You know what… I’m going to make bread today!  …. now on to Saturday morning…..

I lay there thinking “I want to just stay in bed.  Why do I feel that I have to get up and run just because it’s Saturday? I’m not going to get back to sleep.  Maybe if Ted stopped snoring I WOULD go back to sleep. Should I kick him? No… I’ll just get up and get on the treadmill because I bet it’s going to be too cold  to go outside“.

I ran for about an hour and managed 7 totally boring miles on the treadmill…the spinning belt.  The FoodNetwork had nothing but infomercials on which basically went across the board. I watched news on channel 10. That simply kept repeating horrible occurrences about killings, suicides, extreme cold temperatures… Help! I need some good news!  Ted came down as I was trying to take my mind away from reality and simply run in oblivion.  He turned on music in lieu of the nothingness on TV.  That didn’t work for me either … I like something that makes me want to move when I listen to music and workout.  I was so happy to get those miles over with!

It was -5 degrees.  I looked liked something from Antarctica when I took Shane out. My body temperature was up from running so I managed to stay warm. Even my hands made it the 3.25 miles we chugged out.  At one point, I looked down at Shane and a little bit of drool had frozen from his lip.  He had a snowy white nose and chin.  My poor little guy!  He did get paw freeze this morning but only for 2 short instances.  In conclusion, I managed about a 10 mile run.

So I celebrated with, probably too much food, but I wanted it:

The Glorious Pear

The Glorious Pear

Began with a luscious pear.

Took it upstairs with me because I had to get Shane in the shower to wash his neck.  Seems he has a winter dry itch around his neck so I picked up an antihistamine shampoo for him.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

After the shower, back downstairs to prepare the much looked forward to, Saturday Egg Fest!

Egg Beater Omelette, Last of the Namaste Pizza

I thought I’d reward my 10 miles by having the left over Namaste pizza instead of pumpernickel bread.  I topped the plate off with hot sauce.  The veggies which made up the omelet were chopped asparagus and broccoli.

A wonderfully hot mug of coffee. Both coffee mug and plate had to be warmed because they were SO cold coming from the cupboards!  Didn’t anyone insulate in there?!!!  11120

Now I get the very fun activity of finishing the cake for the soon to arrive “Olivia”.   Congrats Kelly and Apple Crumbles sends her best wishes to you and the soon to be father!    To everyone everywhere, have a great day!

Sounds so cold there. Hard to imagine when it seems like it is always 70 degrees and sunny here in California. Congrats on the huge run! That is awesome. And, your omelet looks delicious. 🙂

Juliet – you live in my dream world! I have been to California on business a few times, from LA to San Francisco. My favorite place, though, was Carmel-By-The Beach. What a beautiful place.
