Key West – Day 2

Recap of our 2nd day in Key West, FL.

The crowing rooster was never quieted. We are hoping that we get a full nights sleep tonight.

It was cold today. When the sun came out – perfect, but most of the day was overcast and windy.

We left the B&B after a continental breakfast at about 9:15 am.  We walked up Duval St. and around the historic boardwalk then back down to the Southern Most point.  We stopped for lunch at Louis Backyard which was an expensive disappointment.  After lunch, we walked back to the B&B to spend time in a 100 deg. F whirl pool. It was nice to get warm for 1/2 hour.

At 3pm, I found Pier House Resort…Caribbean Spa, where I scheduled a 50 min. deep tissure massage.  GLORIOUS!

The therapist started early and stopped late, so it was a great massage but left me scurrying around to get ready for our sunset cruise aboard the historical schooner, Western Union.   Ted  met me at the spa and we just made it to set sail by 5PM.

The Capt. was concerned because storms were in the area.  We went out but stayed close to the harbour.  We saw the BEST dolphin show. The dolphins were all around the boat, leaping, playing, and thoroughly entertaining crew and passengers.  In the meantime, a couple got engaged on our excursion. How romantic!

We docked at about 6:45 pm and had a comp. drink at the Schooner Wharf bar.  Then moved on to The Conch Seafood Company for dinner.   What a great day in spite of the cold.  I was SO trying to be warm. I had refused to put on a sweater / sweat shirt.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring more sun and warmer temps.

That’s all I have for you tonight. Ted is already asleep, but he’s determined that we get up to go watch the sun rise.  I’ll be sure to let you know how that goes.  Take care. Jo signing off.

Finally got that silly Eye Fi card up and working. It wasn’t the cards  problem it was mine.

Where I left off, we were eating at Charlotte waiting for our 1:35 pm flight. That flight turned into a 2:40pm flight. Bummer.  We arrived in Key West at about 4:30 pm. The airport is SO tiny that we were able to grab the luggage, get a taxi and out the door in 15 minutes.

Anxious to get to Finnegan’s Wake for the Super Bowl festivities, we cleaned up, changed and flew out the door. It was about a 15 minute walk to Finnegan’s.  There was no one there!  Unbelievable.  The places we passed on the way – empty.  There sure wasn’t much Super Bowl partying going on here last night. But we had a GREAT time!

My dinner. I'm reluctant to put the name of it up, but that wouldn't be fair..."Miso Horny". It was seared Ahi tuna in a spinach wrap with a Miso Slaw. Very good.

I can't believe he had room for this! Ted ordered this HUGE Apple Turnover. It was drizzled with a chocolate and caramel glaze and came with whip cream and a big bowl of vanilla ice cream. GO TED!

That was a lot of eating!
Today,  we intend to walk it all off. If we don’t collapse in sheer exhaustion. You see there is a rooster very close to our B&B.  It began it’s silly morning call at 3:30 AM – as of 6:30 AM when I gave up and got up… it was STILL crowing!
Ted just left to go find it and choke it.
Will be back with more goody updates. Hope Shane is ok? I miss him.9829
