Are you gunning for the forest every time you use an ATM?
Maybe, since the number of trees that go to making receipts is just plain criminal. Hold up on requesting a receipt at the ATM, gas pump, checkout stand, and anywhere else where you have the choice, ski mask or not.
Less eco-thievery.Receipts from the 8 billion U.S. ATM transactions each year create a lotta waste – and most end up in the trash.
- Not robbing yourself of time. You can view all your transactions on your bank’s website, and some stores, such as , will send an e-receipt to your email – überconvenient.
- Peace of mind. Misplaced receipts can help thieves steal your identity.
Wallets stuffed with receipts give the illusion of more cash, and personally, we can’t afford to be any more deluded about our spending reserves than we already are.

Sloppy Soyrizo Joes
This was a surprisingly tasty dish and served in a “cabbage bowl” , it proved the perfect Tuesday night treat.
Ingredients for 2 servings plus left overs:
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 6 baby carrots chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
3/4 pkg. of “Soyrizo” Vegetarian Sausage
6oz Pasta sauce
1 15 oz can diced tomatoes
1 4oz can mushrooms (stems and pcs)
2 TBS barbeque sauce
1 small head of cabbage
Slice the cabbage in 1/2 and scoop out some of the inside with a sharp knife. It’s a little tough – do the best you can without slicing the sides, through the bottom, and most importantly – don’t slice your finger.
Put the cabbage 1/2’s in a large pot, fill with water 3/4 to the top and bring to a boil. Let slow boil, cover slightly cracked open, until the cabbage is softened (about 15 min.).
Meanwhile, heat a large pan with 1 TBS EVOO over med.- hi heat and add the first 4 ingredients. Cook about 8 minutes.
Add the pasta sauce, tomatoes, mushrooms and BQ sauce to the sausage mix and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 12 -15 minutes.
Remove cover and let simmer an additional 5 minutes – or until you are ready to eat.
Carefully remove the cabbage and drain all the water.
Turn the cabbage 1/2’s over and make an even slice (to make a flat bottom) – without cutting through, on the under side. Turn the 1/2 back over and it should stay firmly on the plate … like a bowl.
Scoop out more of the inside of the cabbage if needed (it’s softer now and easier to do).
Put them on your plate, fill with your Soyrizo Joe mix, top with cheese if you want, serve with crusty bread.
I was lucky with this meal. Ted made himself a steak and left me to enjoy my veggie dish. He insists he won’t touch the left overs tomorrow because it has that “soy stuff in it”. You should have heard the reaction when I told him that the baked beans he enjoyed so much Saturday night and the last couple of days ALSO had that “soy stuff”. Hee Hee Hee! GOTCHA Honey! 🙂
