Good Sunday Morning, All!  Last night Ted and I enjoyed the company of some good friends at one of the old Italian restaurants, Grimaldi’s.  We had more than enough great food starting with tomato pie, then some great hot bread, onto some garlic pizza, and everyone else enjoyed the greens (they contained prosciutto – so I didn’t indulge but was certainly eyeballing the hot cherry peppers-bummer!). For dinner, Ted compared Grimaldi’s veal Alfredo to Fridays veal dish at Bella Cucina which was veal Giovanni.  He actually preferred the Giovanni said it had a bit more flavor. I had the salmon almondine special. I think I would have really enjoyed it had my stomach been feeling a bit better… it had been making its presence known all day. I firmly believe body parts and organs need to function in a healthy way and that means that we shouldn’t know they are even there!

Fred showed me a money clip with the Welsh Dragon on it – the symbol of Wales. The Welsh dragon represents the ancient standard of the Tudor Family. A good site for reference in regards to the word on that money clip or other Welsh translations for that matter is: http://www.geiriadur.net/atebion.php?prefLang=en  I couldn’t remember the exact spelling. But I think it was simply a word for “Welsh” or “Wales”.

This morning is a gorgeous, but cold, upstate morning.  The sun is out and there are still some colorful leaves gently falling from the trees.  The three of us went for a walk around the Proctor Parks (I make that plural because I think both parks are Proctor Parks but with different first names to identifiying them… Utica knowledgeables…help???!!!).  I wanted to share the beautiful pictures with you but my battery died so… I’ll have to save that blog for another nice day.  The 2nd park (one w/ the arch on Culver) celebrates its 100th birthday come 2009. It now has a small Butterfly Sanctuary donated by a local family and the 5th graders- obviously at 25 deg. we didn’t see any butterflys today.  The fountains are still flowing and they have cleaned up the many stone walkways and paths leading into the woods and around the park.  Sometimes those little things make you appreciate Utica even though the weather isn’t always great and the taxes are high and….ok, lets just enjoy the moment!

Breakfast today… after really trying to work up an appetite was an eggbeater omelete: 1/2 cup eggbeaters 1 tbs chopped onions sauteed with 6 small asparagus spears and 5 small cherry tomatoes. Topped with 2 tbs of feta cheese and 1 tbs salsa, put on top of a toasted low carb, whole grain tortilla. On the side, 1/2 a grapefruit.

On the agenda today is some more baking. I’ll make the pineapple zucchini bread and come up with a way to use those chopped cranberrys from yesterday.  Check out recipes later. Enjoy your Sunday!

Update:  See page under “Life”. I have collected pictures around FT Proctor Park for a beautiful “blog” tour.  Enjoy.

One of those days

Not feeling up to snuff today.  Kind of “out of sorts” in general.  It’s probably just the lack of sunlight in the past couple of days.11657

As for the results of the infamous court appearance by Ted last night, they let him come home.  Actually, he arrived at the court house about 15 min. prior to the allotted time, but there were quite a number of people who had already signed in. He arrived at 6:45PM and didn’t get home until 9:30PM.  He waited until his name was called, they asked if he had met with the DA, he said no – he was waiting in line but his name was called before he could see her. They said well, it looks like the charge has been reduced to a non-moving violation anyway.  Yippee…. yet, $100 later…. and that was only a parking ticket! 10126

As for today, busy at work, still having machine problems however the electrician came late this afternoon to take a look.9880

Sam goes in for his surgery (ablation) tomorrow morning, so we plan on visiting him tomorrow night at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. I really HATE hospitals. They make me feel woozy.  9601

Sue will take him home on Friday.  As for hunting this weekend, No Way, SAM!!! 10249Looks like Bambi is safe.

The Wall:

the wall - capped

The extra stones were moved to another part of the yard today and the tow motor got stuck so Ted had to tow it out using Teddy’s truck.  The yard is somewhat of a mess now but will be mended eventually. It’s just so wet out there.

We are also getting a little bit of credit for the stones we were able to return to the supplier.  The caps were put on the columns so the wall is complete. Now I would like to hide the front lower part with 2 colorful bushes because the stones they supplied have too much grey in them. We ordered “Toffee Onyx” and the stones in the store were more toffee than onyx. The ones we got were more onyx.

I’m going to make it sound like the entire house is falling apart, but just keeping you all updated.  There is a hole in the kitchen wall where the old doorbell used to be. That stopped working for some unknown reason and we tried replacing the little “diode” (not sure if that’s the right name for it), then we tried buying a new doorbell, we finally gave up and bought a wireless doorbell. That also took 2 tries because the first one didn’t have volume control and was barely audible throughout most of the house.

So that’s another wrap. Just an aside, the Presidential campaigning rattles on. Now Sara Palin is at odds with McCain regarding 3 different issues and word has it she may be setting up her own political agenda … if things don’t go as she hopes this year… for a National office four years from now. Is that scary or what?!!!
